My brother's hat is finished!

I did this hat in a record amount of time for me. It is long overdue and I am just waiting for me to finish the scarf to be done so I can send it off to my brother in Portland, Oregon.

Knitting Progress

So here is my knitting progress, it's been a lot of working on the scarf and hat for Eli, they are long overdue.

The beginning of the hat for my brother, the pattern can be found here: http://orangefishknits.blogspot.com/2007/01/lace-slant-hat.html

This is the scarf it is meant to match.

Pattern here: http://knitswellwithothers.blogspot.com/2002/02/alpaca-furry-goodness-scarf.html

This is the progress I made on my Jaywalkers from Grumperina. I like this pattern, it is super easy to memorize and knits.

Michael got me a wonderful journal for my knitting. It's made by women in Nepal, it's great for keeping track of my knitting and patterns I am using.

The note that came with it and explains how it is made and by whom.

Secret Swapper Package!!!

Hi, hopefully larudden from knittinghelp.com forums is reading this. She sent me the most amazing swap package. I have had two amazing swappers, NoBones and larudden. They both sent me amazing packages.

Here is the package from larudden. She went with an amazing sock (Sox) theme that centered around socks and baseball and fall colors
. She sent me a wonderful note explaining it all.

The yarn:
This yarn is incredible. It's Dream in Color Smooshy and Smooshy is the exact right word for it.

Yarn and two patterns!
The Interweave Knits I wanted! Yay!

This incredible sock pattern!

Yarn nail file! I needed a new one of these, and this one is so adorable.

Bamboo DPN's

Incredible red and white and blue buttons.

The Smooshiest yarn again.

The 4 goodies.

Some of her incredible homemade glass stitch markers.

The cutest Mickey Mouse Red Sox pin!

Yay for baseball findings!

This has been quite a day!

I found out I passed one of two bars I took.

I received my awesome knittinghelp.com secret theme swap package from larudden.

My Red Sox won the division for the first time since 1995.

I officially love today.

My fiance took me out for an amazing dinner. We came home to champagne and the division win.

Very good day.

I hope your day was as good as mine.

Happy knitting.

In addition, I did get to knit at Ewe'll Love It in Nashua a bit.
They had their first friday knit night and I was there getting bar passage reward yarn after work, so I sat down and knit a little. I will be back when it isn't such an important day.
I love that store.

I am now an attorney!

I passed the New Hampshire bar exam.

Sometimes your own name is more than just your name.

It is when it is on a list of people who passed the bar exam.

Yay!

Yay! My computer is working...for now....

The wonderful Genius at the Apple store in the Burlington Mall got my computer working....for now....I was correct about the RAM issue and he solved that by moving one of my RAM thingies from one slot to another. However, I am running into some sort of motherboard problem that it would cost $320 to fix. That is a third of the cost of a new computer for me, and since my birthday is coming up, I am thinking of asking all family members to contribute Apple gift cards to my computer purchase fund. That would defray the costs a bit and so will the money I will get from my odl roommates for the utilities they did not pay all year (totally my fault for not telling them how much it was continuously). I also don't have rent to pay in October, part of the three months free deal we got, so new computer here I come.

I'll donate the old one to charity or something after completely deleting all my information from it.
I updated pictures on ravelry and here are some pictures for you! I'll take some of the scarf I have almost done for my big brother when I am home later!
For now, Grandma's stole: She already wore this down in the Florida air conditioning!
Blocking:
Ready to go!

Our couch kitty: Big Papi

Glad to be back!

I haven't posted in a while....

because my Mac(k) makes three beeping noises and then does nothing else every time I turn it on. This is my work computer and I can't figure out how to get my pictures on here. I think I shall be stopping at the Mac store with the Mack to hopefully get the problem sorted out (it's a RAM thing-which is not the harddrive apparently, which is good.

I shall post pictures of all my knitting progress when I can use the comptuer again or when I have a new one, which is looking likely.

I did get the yarn in from Sarah's Yarns for my chuppah. I went with the Jaggerspun DK weight in white, two cones. I already started swatching and have some of the stitch pattern picked out.

I went to an SnB last night in Reading, MA and I might have finally found one that I like. It's a nice mix of people, on a Wednesday night, and only is two hours long, so I still have time to take care of other business that night, like spending time with M.

I think I shall order a couple more stitch books today so I have a little more variety for the chuppah. So far I am using a leaf stitch, a candle flame/torch one, a flower stitch-Larkspurs, and possibly something called rising pathways. They are from this book: http://www.amazon.com/Big-Book-Knitting-Stitch-Patterns/dp/1402727631/ref=sr_1_1/103-0901535-0857413?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1190281190&sr=1-1

I am thinking about getting these books: http://www.amazon.com/Vogue-Knitting-Stitchionary-One-Dictionary/dp/1931543771/ref=sr_1_1/103-0901535-0857413?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1190281247&sr=1-1

http://www.amazon.com/450-Knitting-Stitches-Harmony-Guide/dp/1855856298/ref=pd_sim_b_1/103-0901535-0857413?ie=UTF8&qid=1190281368&sr=1-4

http://www.amazon.com/Treasury-Knitting-Patterns-Barbara-Walker/dp/0942018168/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/103-0901535-0857413?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1190281688&sr=1-1

http://www.amazon.com/Second-Treasury-Knitting-Patterns/dp/0942018176/ref=pd_bbs_sr_2/103-0901535-0857413?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1190281688&sr=1-2

I am just not sure.

I don't plan on doing a lot of designing so I might just go see if I can get it through the library or something.

I literally just want a few more stitch patterns but the ones I want to use are sprinkled throughout these books.

There needs to be one giant collection of say, just lace stitches, for people like me! Every single lace stitch you can imagine.

Vine Shawl OFF the needles!

I have been knitting hard on the vine shawl for my Grandma over the last week. Once I was within about 5 or 6 20 row pattern repeats (the last two balls of yarn) I was able to set a goal for myself of ten tows a day. That's 750 stitches a day. I am proud to say that I met that goal and that the shawl is off the needles. All that is left is weaving in the ends (today after work before poker) and blocking. This will get a good wet block and will be my first experience at pinning something out to the right dimensions. I hope it goes all right. I would like to be able to send this and the package out for my swapper on Monday.

Pictures of the whole blocking process and the finishes project sometime soon!

I cast on and knit 5 repeats of the 6 row pattern repeat for my brother's scarf. This is the third attempt at this scarf, but I finally found the right pattern for it.

I'll post pictures and details of that when I post about the vine shawl.

Off to Jail!

No, I did not get arrested. Today I am going on a tour of a jail for my new job. It's important that we know what our incarcerated clients are experiencing for a variety of reasons.

It will be a nice change from sitting at our desks waiting to give mock directs and openings and cross examinations. However, it's a monkey suit day! I really like that I can wear what I would normally wear to training. That will all change soon once I am in court 4-5 days a week.

A Grown Up Bonnet FO!

This is the Grown Up Bonnet from Knit 2 Together by Tracey Ullman and Mel Clark. I did it in three skeins of Manos in a beautiful blue color. It is soooooo soft. I love it and can't wait for it not to be 95 degrees in Boston to be able to wear this around. I feel like a shepherdess in it and it is wonderful. I wish the scarf was a bit longer so that I could wrap it around so the scarf would go around twice and hang down in the front but that would have taken another skein of yarn. This was a pretty quick knit had I not frogged and restarted this.

Love it!

Reason why knitting has slowed down...

Knitting has slowed down lately because we got a cat! Yay.

We adopted him from my sister and he is lovely, but loves yarn. He stops when I say to, but I definitely keep it in a secure location now.

He watches me knitting, it's funny.

He's an Abyssinian and is about 4. He meows a lot and we meow back. He loves to be pet and loves to play with hair ties for some reason.
